One of Seattle’s best kept secrets, the Outdoor Research Retail Store not only offers a full range of goods to accommodate our core sport enthusiasts and novices alike, it is also the only place to view our apparel, glove, and hat lines in their entirety. That alone is worth the visit!

Not only do we carry the entire current line of Outdoor Research gloves, hats, men’s and women’s apparel, gaiters, storage and shelter, but we also carry other brands whose products support the relentless adventurer. We specialize in the outdoor sports of Alpine, Ice, and Rock Climbing, Hiking, Paddling, and Sidecountry/Backcountry Skiing. Some of the other brands we carry include MSR, Thermarest, Snowpeak, Exped, Deuter, Petzl, Metolius, Grivel, Osprey, GoPro, Smartwool, Ibex, prAna, and Green Trails Maps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order from you over the phone?

Yes! The retail store accepts phone orders during business hours and can ship anywhere in the United States. Call us at (206) 971-1496.

Will you ship something to me in Canada or outside of the U.S.?

We are not able to ship to Canada or outside of the United States. If you are looking for a retailer near you who may carry a specific product, please contact Customer Service: (888) 467-4327.

I have something to exchange; can I do it there?

We support the Outdoor Research Infinite Guarantee in the Retail Store and will help you with your exchanges and warranty issues.

Do you rent climbing equipment?

Yes! The OR Retail Store rents snowshoes, trekking poles, crampons, ice axes, helmets, glacier glasses, stoves, headlamps, shovels, probes, and beacons, at reasonable rates. If you would like to rent crampons, please bring the pair of boots you will be using with the crampons.

I’m taking a group out snowshoeing; can we rent through you?

Yes!  With an advance reservation you can take out our entire fleet of adult and children’s snowshoes.  We have seventeen adult pairs and three children’s pairs.

Does the OR Retail Store participate in community events?

Yes! We always try to attend or facilitate events which pertain to our core sports and the outdoors.  We hold evening talks, clinics, slideshows, and film screenings in our next-door showroom. Please call 206.971.1496  if you are interested in working with us to put on an event.

I found an Outdoor Research product on your website or the website of another vendor. Will you carry it in the store?

We do our best to carry the entire line of the current season of Outdoor Research hats, gloves, gaiters, and men’s and women’s apparel, storage and shelter.

Will you help me size my gaiters?

Yes! We love helping you figure out what gaiter size and type you need. Just bring your boots with you into the store, and we will help you choose the best pair!

I have a specific question about a piece of gear. Can you help me?

What are your hours? What days of the week are you open?

We are open 7 days per week, and on Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. We are closed on January 1, New Year’s Day, July 4, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and December 25th, Christmas Day.

What brands do you carry?

We carry Outdoor Research’s full current line, subject to availability, as well as seasonal items from other retailers. We carefully select all soft and hardgoods that we carry here in the store, and we are able to carry great selections from retailers including Backcountry Access, Croakies, Deuter, ENO Hammocks, Exped, KAVU, GoPro, Green Trails Maps, Grivel, Ibex, Julbo, Merrell, Montbell, MSR, Mountaineers Books, Nalgene, National Geographic Maps, Nixwax, Nuun, Osprey, Petzl, Platypus, prAna, Ruffwear, Smartwool, Smith, Snowpeak, Sol Sunguard, Therm-a-Rest, Teko, Vessel, YakTrax and Voile.

Jeremy Park

Ice and rock climbing, Backcountry Skiing, Mountaineering, Store Events, General Tom Foolery

Jeremy Park is our most veteran store employee and dabbles in everything. Mr. Park has climbed the majority of Washington's Volcanoes. He teaches classes at Stone Gardens Climbing Gym and volunteers with the Friends Northwest Weather & Avalanche Center and Washington Climbers Coalition. Lauren O'Connell-Fujii

Backpacking, Thru-Hiking, Sport Climbing and Bouldering

Lauren O'Connell-Fujii is our store manager. Lauren thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in’07 and the Appalachian Trail in ‘05. As you might guess, she's especially skilled at recommending gear for thru-Hiking and multi-week treks. She's an animal lover who takes her two dogs out year round: Boris boulders D4/5 and Tilly is a mega-dyno lover. Lauren is always up for a weekend camping and climbing trip! Email Lauren!

Micah Faville

Rock Climbing, Mountaineering, Hiking

Micah is at home when he is in the woods or out in alpine air. His passion is for climbing and he has been to most areas between here and Smith Rock in his home state of Oregon. When he isn’t in the store he can be found working at the Seattle Bouldering Project or out on a local volcano or rock wall.  Email Micah!

Eli Lieberman

Backcountry Skiing, Trekking, East Coast Beta

Originally from Massachusetts, Eli moved to Colorado for college and powder. During the summers he worked for the Appalachian Mountain Club in New Hampshire's White Mountains as a backcountry caretaker. In New Hampshire he pursued a passion for trail construction/maintenance in addition to Leave No Trace ethics. If you've hiked in New Hampshire, it's possible you've climbed one of his staircases. Andy Stephan

Alpine Climbing, Rock Climbing, Skiing, Guiding

Andy is our resident mountain guide, working for KAF Adventures as well as us. He is an avid skier and climber and makes excellent gear recommendations for both. He grew up ski racing in Vermont but moved here seven years ago and now is in love with the Cascades. He’s an easy-going guy who likes to work and play hard.  Email Andy!

Mark Knowles

Backpacking, Snowboarding, Cross-Training, Sport Climbing

Mark joined our team after making the long journey to Seattle from his home state of Texas! A lifelong hiker and avid minimalist backpacker, his passions include snowboarding, sport climbing, running trails, and making that pack feel super light. When he's unable to be outside, Mark plays the drums in local rock bands. Come experience his southern comfort vibe, and ask him about training techniques, gear, or music.
